Workflow 2

Workflow 2: Analysis of phytoplankton responses to environmental change

This workflow analyses phytoplankton community responses to environmental variability and change by integrating traditional taxonomic and trait-based approaches. It computes taxonomic diversity indices (e.g. species richness and Shannon diversity) and functional diversity metrics (e.g. Rao’s quadratic entropy, functional dispersion, and functional redundancy) to characterise changes in community composition and functional structure over time. The workflow includes univariate and multivariate statistical analyses to investigate relationships between biodiversity patterns, functional traits, and environmental drivers, supporting the identification of community assembly processes and potential environmental- and climate-driven shifts in phytoplankton communities.

Thanks to its modular structure, this workflow is flexible and easily adaptable. Users can customize the workflow by editing the code and parameters and by adding or removing cells. Furthermore, the workflow can be tailored to specific research needs by performing additional analyses.
